Description

This unit provides an introduction to the theory and practice of both financial accounting and financial management in the context of manufacturing firms. The accounting part of the unit is concerned with the use of financial statements to appraise the performance of a manufacturing based company, the ways in which profits can be managed within the regulatory environment and the usefulness of financial statements. The financial management part of the unit is concerned with examining the financial management practices within an organisation's strategic and operational processes, the roles of different types of finance and the basic concepts of risk management.
